Biography

Hi! I'm Natalie, and I'm a Motion Designer, Animator, Illustrator and Video Editor. In my 12+ years in the field, I've worked on everything from marketing and social media videos to documentaries, commercials, installation video art, educational videos and explainers.

With motion design, I love that I get to draw and illustrate original graphics to use in animation and bring movement and life to that creativity. I get a lot of extra creative oomph from illustrating and animating, but I still love the process of putting together a "collage" with video editing as well. All of the components of video (visual, graphics, audio, coloring) combine to create something that makes us feel and connect. I love helping clients, brands and companies reach their target audiences with the perfect combination of style, branding and messaging. I have experience in the entire production process from initial visual concepting to storyboarding to sourcing and shooting footage to polishing/editing, audio sweetening, color correction and export/render optimization.

When you work with me on a project, you'll get my high level of professionalism and my creative and quirky eye. I put a lot of emphasis on providing a smooth, clearly outlined process with multiple checkpoints along the way to make sure we're staying on the same page and everything is aligning with your vision. Whether you're completely new to working with an animator, illustrator or editor or you've done many video projects already, we'll have friendly conversations and complete the project with flying colors (maybe literally!)

I have a strong background in both freelance and corporate/studio environments. I've worked with huge teams of creatives and also with individuals. I was the Senior Video Editor at Craftsy for 5 years (now Bluprint, an NBC company). I did a lot of long-form editing and short-form promo work there. I most recently worked at a small animation studio, Studio Hippo, doing animated pieces from explainer videos to social gifs to product promos.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about the process or your project, so don't hesitate to get in touch!
I can't wait to see what we can create together!

Experience

Motion Designer & Illustrator

Studio Hippo

Denver, CO · June 2017 – April 2019

My experience at Hippo ran the gamut from initial concepting, storyboarding and illustrating all the way to animating. I was involved in most steps of the process, and collaborated on brainstorming visual directions, creating original illustrations (vector and hand-drawn), and creating final polished animations.

Senior Video Editor

Craftsy.com (now Bluprint, an NBC company)

Denver, CO · July 2012 – June 2017

At Craftsy, I edited a high volume of both long and short-form educational and promotional videos while juggling tight deadlines. I collaborated with producers, videographers, technical directors and creative directors to create final, polished video products. I created and applied graphics to many videos during my time there, and lead an ongoing color correction initiative. I helped manage freelance editors as needed and audio training for the other editors on the team.

Videographer & Video Editor

Indiana University

Bloomington, IN

At IU, I filmed, edited and created motion graphics for many educational and promotional videos. I filmed in an in-studio setting as well as in a more documentary style around the school and in Bloomington. I collaborated with another editor/videographer on projects as well as performing audio sweetening and color correction on videos.
